Rocks are hard and durable. During Bible times, they were used as altars, both for the worship of God and the worship of idols unfortunately. They were used to cook on. People used them as weapons, be they for their own evil desires or to carry out the Lord's judgment on unrepentant sinners. Rocks were used to build entire cities and to build the walls of protection around them. Most importantly however, God used rocks as object lessons in the Bible to teach us about His many attributes.
God Is Our Protector:
- We see this when He used the cleft of a rock to shelter Moses from His glory as He passed by him. Exodus 33:22
- Rocks were a hiding place for the Israelites when they were fighting the Philistines. 1 Samuel 13:6
David wrote of God as his Protector in his psalms. Psalm 27:5, Psalm 40:2
God Is Our Foundation:

- Christians are the rocks in the foundation of God's church. Matthew 16:18

God Is All Powerful and Eternal:

To remember that we need to stand on Christ as our solid Rock and that all other ground is sinking sand, we watched the YouTube song with those very same lyrics and worked on a small craft project so they would remember tonight's lesson. Here is a picture of a few of the finished projects!
